I am a student of history, have been for almost 30 years. Love reading stories of the men and women who pushed against the normal flow and forged a new path. Not all new paths are good however. Some societies have adopted new norms that later became their own destruction. For those who have study Church history, you will find the good, the bad and the ugly. The Christian Church, has been around for 2000 years, but has at times made very poor choices. These decisions have caused people great pain and society took centuries to correct its course from it. One great period was found in the Dark Ages. The time when the Church lost her way and slipped into darkness and so did the planet. It however, began to show this signs from the very first century of her existence. In the Epistle of Jude he gives us this assignment.
Jude 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
Jude 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Bold Print Added)
First Jude tells us to contend for the faith earnestly. Contend earnestly speaks of; to contend with and adversary for the faith. Why would he speaks such a thing. Aren’t all believers just wonderful and glorious. He goes on to say, that there are those who came in unnoticed to twist and pervert the grace of God. It is amazing to note, that they have been marked out for condemnation a long time ago. The truth of the Gospel is not for everyone to just find their own way. Truth cannot take many different interpretations, otherwise it ceases to be truth. Truths of the Kingdom are absolutes. When Martin Luther came on the scene, the Church was cloaked in falsehood and darkness. She had no sense of right and wrong as it was only perceived through the eyes of those in charge, not through the eyes of the Spirit.
Then came the reformers. They had a new message. One of faith, hope and love. They preached in the face of religious spirits and murderers who would have gladly burned them at the stake. The Church has spent most of the last 500 years going forward and making strives in the area of recapturing the original gospel. Generation after generation God has raised up those who release heaven’s reality and take the Church into a new dynamic that she lost centuries ago. The Church once again is need of reformers, not performers. It is desperately crying out for those who will once again shake the Church from her slumber and defend the gospel of the Kingdom with all diligence.
There is a corruption that has entered the Church with a love message that has no holiness nor obedience. Lip service given, but no dedication to the King to back it up. A name it and claim it message that requires no wisdom to walk it out. Jesus flat out said to His disciples:
John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
John 14:24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
Having faith in Jesus is all that one needs to be born again. That is it. Yet to be one who displays that he or she loves God back requires obedience and diligence. Faith and love are not the same. Having faith is a gift from God. His love to you is a gift from Him. Your love towards God is your gift to Him. It is only accurately expressed through obedience.
God is looking for radical lovers. Radical saints who will go and turn the world upside down again. People who will not compromise and keep His commands. If they stumble, they are quick to repent. Yet they live with a passion that they can never earn His love, but they are going to live a life like they are trying. It is not enough that God loves you, if it were, Jesus would have never said this. He would have just taught messages about the Father’s love towards us. This is why are salvation needs to be walked out, so it has a practical side to our lives. So fruit might grow and remain.
Phil. 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
Today, calling someone to obedience seems to most a departure from grace. However it is a call towards grace. Grace only functions when by faith we access it to stand firm in it.
Rom. 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Rom. 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
We have been justified by faith through Jesus Christ. There can be no other justification given. However, we must continue moving forward into grace to stand against all temptation of sin and perversion of truth. Where are all the radical lovers of God? Where are all those who will change the course of history and be known for the great works that they do? It is time to rise up and be heard for the earth has been waiting for you. God has been waiting for you. Get up and shake off the dust and put on your holy garments. We have work to do and it is going to require radical lovers to get it done.
Blessing to you all,
