Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me."
Have you ever asked the question, "How do I carry the presence of God?" I know there are many who are thirsting for the reality of the Spirit of the Lord resting upon them. in this blog post, I want to address some of the things that are necessary for you to maintain a life with the Lord and His precious Spirit. My desire is not to make anyone feel less than the value we all should feel from a Father, who has sent His Son to die for us. It is my desire to help all of us remove some of the myths, roadblocks and obstacles, that keep us from the level of anointing that we all desire.
The Anointing is only for leaders of ministry.
Well, we might as well tackle this one right out of the gate. The anointing is for every believer. The anointing is the Spirit of God upon the believer for a purpose of the Kingdom. Every believer can and should desire the anointing to be a part of their life. It is not just for the person up front; it is for the person in the back as well.
The Anointing is automatic for the believer.
I wish it were so, but I would be lying to you. To carry the anointing takes purpose and dedication. It does not come by accident, but with a specific purpose. Understanding this will help with another myth. If you desire to carry the anointing (The Spirit of God) on you, then you will have to walk your life out with that purpose in mind. Every day you must order you steps with this goal in mind. He is Holy Spirit.
God has anointed us so you can do anything.
The anointing is often confused with gifting. A person might be a great speaker, but that does not mean every time he speaks it is from the anointing. A gifting from God should be anointed by God, but there are times it is not. What do Imean by that? If a believer, who has a gift from God walks away, it does not mean that the gift stops working. The Giftings and callings of God are without repentance.
Rom. 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
There is a possibility of another spirit anointing the gift. Think of Balaam. He had a gift from God, but it does not mean that God's anointing was operating. Remember I mentioned HOLY Spirit. He is holy, and He does not participate in sin or disobedience. Alternatively, as the saying goes, "No Lord" is an oxymoron. The anointing comes in part to make us holy and help us walk out His holiness in us. He does not operate on us when we are not about the Father's business. This does not mean only when we are ministering, but if we are walking in life properly, He can show up on us at the most amazing times. This is why we must think about the way we walk in life.
A few suggestions that might help.
You must be diligent in your pursuit of God. This means daily and consistent. If you only seek Him occasionally, then this will not work for you. The Lord says we will find Him when we seek Him.
Jer. 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jer. 29:12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
Jer. 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Being diligent in pursuit with God is a major key to intimacy. Many times life will try to overpower your thoughts and take time away from His presence. You must be persistent to keep coming to Him and never take a step back.
If you are going to walk with God, you have can not take the relationship for granted. You must remember that He chose you; yes you. He did that not hoping to have a relationship, but expecting it. He desires it more than you ever will. He does not do it out of a need, but out an absolute love for you. Don't take it for granted from this point on. Every day you must talk to Him, seek Him and pray to Him. Read His word and meditate on it day and night.
Psa. 63:6 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
Surround yourself with those who have the same passion. Iron sharpens iron. Iron gets dull if it is the only sharp tool in the shed. It will get overused and lose the edge. Your life requires that you have those around you that will help you in your pursuit. Many surround themselves with those who need their advice all the time, but that leads to a spiritual drain. You need to have those friends that can challenge you in your walk with God. It will help you in the long run.
These are just a few things that will help. Remember they are suggestions. They are things that I have learned over twenty-five years of pursuit with God. I hope they will help you.
