What do you do with the dreams in your heart? How do you handle that burning desire to do something great? Many Christians struggle with these things trying to bring balance between humility and faith. When I do, periscope broadcast on the topic of faith and prayer, I am often met with those who immediately want to put up a stop sign in front of God's green light. When we address the subject of prayer, Jesus made some amazing declaration that seem to puzzle still the minds of His people.
John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
Scripture tells us that we only need to ask for the things that Father has said He already wants to give us. The problem might come when I have to learn the way I am to appropriate it. Sometimes I have to violent in faith and sometimes I have to be like a child. There are times I have to decree over and over again, fight for it in my spirit. Other times I have to be like my children who have filled out the Christmas wish list. They know that mom and dad have it covered, and they do not think about it again. One receives it as a child; the other takes the kingdom by force. I have to admit, I do not always know which one I am to do. Just like most, I can get trapped in one mode and think that it is the only way to get things done. This is where my spirit must yield to His. It is where I try one and if I do not feel the peace I will shift to the other.
Mark 10:15 “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
Matt. 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
Life is like that too. You will try things in life and some things will work out and some things won't. You will just have to learn to adjust on the go, but you will have to go. Don't be paralyzed with fear of missing God. He loves it when His children go after their dreams. It is stunning to me how one instance in Scripture turns into a trap of Doctrine. Yes, Abraham make a mistake with Ismael. Now every time, people what to do something, you are warned of doing the same thing. I have news for you and might want to listen here. You will make mistakes. There I said it. Pressure is now off, and the cat is out of the bag. Too often, we are paralyzed with fear of failure or worse, seeming to be arrogant. I want to warn you of something else. Something that maybe you have not thought of yet. You might appear like one who believes God and trust Him. We certainly don't want that. Then, the whole Church might do what the Father sent them to do. So dream. Dream big! Then come up with the best plan you can and begin to work it. Listen to God along the way the best you can. Pray for wisdom and guidance every day. As the enemy shifts, so will you. I will talk more about this in the next post. We will talk about the process of growth during the journey, not at the starting line. Until then, God bless.
