Hollywood is literally having the sheets pulled off of them. Politics is being rocked with both sex scandals and conflicts of integrity. The political establish is finding that the American people are not business as usual. The Middle East, North Korea and more can make us seem that the Lord is doing all of this. Satan does not expose himself. Satan likes darkness, and it takes light of which he has none.
Eph. 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Now here is where we might split on the purpose and desire of the Lord. Is this God’s judgment? There are those who believe that God does not judge and there are those who hold that God’s judgment is soon to be unleashed.
First, we have to determine what is God’s judgment. Is it wrath poured out on sinners? Is it God’s anger and disgust for evil? We need to understand that God’s judgment is not His wrath. Judgment is simply God’s ruling on a matter.
Psa. 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Judgment is God's pronounced verdict on a matter. His wrath is the outpouring of His anger. Another term would be His sentence of the guilty. Remember, we were all guilty but did not suffer under His sentence. But why would I think that this is a sign of God’s mercy? That is the most important question of all.
God is love, and He loves everyone unless He states otherwise. (Jacob and Esau) He however does not like what everyone is doing. This is also true and important. So if God loves, He is going to shake things up to give people a chance to repent of their sins. I have a statement that I have used for years. “The worst thing God could do to me is nothing.” He could leave me to myself and turn me over to my own desires.
Rich is the mercy of God to give the world a chance to look in the mirror and realize what they have been doing. If they can find Godly sorrow in their affliction than maybe God will give them the gift of repentance.
2 Tim. 2:25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
I see a loving God who is reaching out to those caught so deep in their own desires that they actually have thought their actions were clothed in light. Deception is really deceiving. This does not mean that they are all going to turn to Jesus. It just means that maybe in their reflection of their actions that they might come to the Lord and their senses. If not they will perish along with so many others who did not hear the Father’s heart cry.
There is the other thing that is going on. Mountains are being brought low and kingdoms of this word are being shaken. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful. We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. So we will learn in this season how to discern God’s goodness and see His severity.
Rom. 11:22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
Consider this verse as well.
Heb. 12:25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,
Heb. 12:26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”
Heb. 12:27 Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Heb. 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Heb. 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Our Father is both loving and purposeful in all that He does. It is possible that He is shaking the kingdoms of this world, displaying both mercy for the lost and reward for the righteous. God’s love comes in both chastisement and comfort. It is important that we not hold to one or the other, but pray and seek His purpose in what he is doing. Holding one way or the other can cause us to miss the day of our visitation.
